Interested in learning more about the Brighton District Library and helping to plan programs you and your friends would enjoy? Consider joining our Teen Advisory Board!

Help Kate Wheeler, our Teen Services Librarian, plan teen events, create content for the Teen Instagram and TikTok videos, create contest ideas, recommend books, make videos, and more.  Meetings will alternate between in person and virtual. If you are interested, please fill the TAB application below.

During TAB’s once a month meeting we’ll talk about what the library can do to help teens with school, plan virtual teen events, future in person events, discuss current trends, plan social media campaigns, and TAB members.

  • Help spread the word about programs and services for teens at the Library.
  • Be an active library user in order to provide targeted feedback about programs and services.
  • Share your ideas at monthly TAB meetings!

Members of the Brighton District Library Teen Advisory Board must:

  • Be a student in grades 7 through 12.
  • Complete TAB application (at the bottom of the page).
  • Opportunity to provide input for library decisions related to teens.
  • Members receive volunteer service credit for school.
  • Members will develop marketable leadership skills.
  • Participation can be listed on job, scholarship and college applications.

Become a Teen Volunteer

School Year 2022-2023: Junior Volunteer Program

Children in grades 6-12.

  • Help with children’s programs.
  • Prepare craft materials.
  • Help setup and clean up program areas.
  • Assist in straightening the children’s department.

Fill out a Junior Volunteer application below. Once you submit your application, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to schedule an interview.

  • School year volunteer schedules begin in September.
  • You will be assigned one shift per week. Your shift will be determined by your availability as indicated on your application.
  • Summer Junior Volunteers begin the second week in June.
  • Gain experience that looks good on job and college applications.
  • See what working in a library is all about.
  • Meet new people and make new friends.
  • Contribute to your community.
  • Help promote reading and literacy.
  • Earn volunteer hours to satisfy community service requirements.
